The world's longest waterslide!
to get a successful landing, the stuntman must consider his initial gravitational potential energy. How much that gravitational potential energy will convert to kinetic energy after consideration of energy required to overcome frictional force as well as his launch speed. (Recall that kinetic energy is dependent on speed of moving object).
Also the distance from edge of slide to his target and time he will remain airborne.
A wrong calculation will result in a tragedy. But the right one will result in pure awesomeness :)
So this is ONE reason why the topic of Distance, Speed, Time is very important :)

Formula for finding Pattern-Within-A-Pattern
This is the simpler version of finding the formula for Pattern-Within-A-Pattern.
The tougher way (the one I know and used to) is by using quadratic equation.

The 1st term of the polynomial will be equal to the common difference divided by the factorial of the polynomial's degree.
In the example above, the common difference was 2 and the degree was 2, so the leading coefficient is 2/2! = 2/2 = 1

A Movie About Number Patterns....
..... although the ending is pretty lame in my opinion especially when some pacifistic shrieking albino-like aliens are involved (ooops! Did I just reveal some spoilers?)
Moral of the story?
When the Art teacher says draw a picture, you better draw and not scribble numbers on the art paper lest you'd turn some reclusive professor in the future into a paranoid lunatic with premonitions of the end of the world :P
