The Count-by Layer Method
- to identify the number of layers in the 3D figure horizontally.
- count and the number of unit cubes in each layer
- tally the number of cubes across each layer and label the total by the side.
With the tally and label, there would be evidence of working on how you derive the total number of cubes in the figure.
And IF you make a mistake, you can also find out which layer you had miscounted.
