1 Year Later...... Operation: UltraMan!

Do not lose hold of your dreams or asprirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live.
- Henry David Thoreau

ran my 1st Marathon in 2008 - to prove to a certain group of pupils that you can achieve your goals if you pursue your dreams with persistence and not to underestimate the power within.

1 year later with a week to spare will be the 1st anniversay of the run. And this time I will attempt the 84km Ultramarathon (the equivalent of running 2 marathons back to back).

The first time I saw the 84km competitors crossing the finish line, I looked at them in awe. I'm sure that 84km is a seemingly impossible distance to many. But secretly, I asked myself, "If these people can do, why can't I?" Sure you can argue that maybe they are gifted with the natural abilities of a runner but I'll never know whether I can complete this distance if I never try.

I know I'm not fast. Or experienced enough (have only started long distance running in less than a year).

But one thing I do know for certain is that I'll do my very best.

And since there is no sure thing is Life and that I may fail in the attempt, at least I will live with the knowledge that I did not go down without a fight. That I will not go through Life regretting that I never attempt the 'impossible'.

And to those who do complete the Ultramarathon, you know you'll always be an UltraMan :)

not 'this' UltraMan.... but close enough :)

Wish me luck everyone.

Creatures of Patienton

Imagine an alien world called Patienton that has the similar habitats (swamp, mountain, forest, grassland, sea, cave, swamp, desert) to that of Earth. Design a creature that possesses adaptative features that enables it to survive in such a habitat.

NOTE: You are not to draw any recognizable earth creatures. Be creative and original.

1. Design an Animal focusing and highlighting on at least 3 of its adaptative features.
2. Label the adaptative features in this format (adjective + special characteristics)
3. Provide a brief write-up on its adaptative features
4. Give your designed creature a name as well as state its habitat type (which was assigned to you

I look forward to your creative designs :)

My Graduation Day (again)

9 months in the making and it is finally over. Juggling teaching and upgrading one's skill was definitely not easy. Some weeks consisted of travelling from school to Temasek Polytechnic - 70 kilometers to and fro and the worst part was the neverending battle to stay awake in class.

Is it worth it?

You bet it is! :)

------An Inspiring Real Life Story--------

The only graduant who received a standing ovation from the audience - everyone was moved by Kevin Lee, who suffers from muscular dystrophy and who despite his disabilities and the odds he faced, managed to complete his diploma with the help of his mother who was his pillar of support throughout the 3 year course.

I think everyone that day learnt a valuable lesson that the only disability one has is the one he/she perceives he/she has.

-----------

To all my pupils and ex-pupils (2008-2009), your graduation day (from Primary school) will also come soon even though you can't visualise it at this moment. But rest assure, the day will come. And on that day, I hope you'll graduate with no regrets, having done your best in your studies in school as well as make great memories with your friends and teachers along the way.

So even though the current journey to the PSLE may be tough at times and seems neverending, press onwards with the best that you've got to give so you won't look back with regrets.

The Rise of the Super Rat

'Natural selection means poison will kill the ones that aren't resistant. The ones that survive may have the gene, they then have babies who can receive the gene themselves. "

The Super-Rat is on its way and is created by natural selection.

Natural selection - a process whereby nature kills off the weak of a certain species and the strong survives and the new generation are much more adapted to whatever agents (posions, predators, environmental changes, etc) that threatened the species ion the first place.

And What Could Possibly be the One Millionth English Word is.....

It's still not official yet so you can't use it formally in your composition writing.
So don't be a 'noob' ok ? :P
.... and yes it is a noun.
noob (plural noobs)
(Internet slang, pejorative) A newb or newbie; refers to the idea that someone is new to a game, concept, or idea; implying a lack of experience. Also, in some areas the word noob can mean someone is obsessed with things.

A Cool Site on Simple Machines

http://www.edheads.org/activities/simple-machines/frame_loader.htm

To All My P5-P6 Pupils (2008-2009)

Simple Machine is a topic that is going to be tested this coming SA1. Yes, I know it was almost 1 year ago in P5 where most of you have learnt this, and I admit that this is one of the tougher topics in Science - yes, it is not so 'simple'.

Well, fear not, if you need a fast way to revise this topic as well as to refresh your memory, do visit the website above. I find it most helpful if you want to revise the topic of Simple Machine in a fun and meaningful way.

Enjoy!
